Status Lights

Status Lights:

DESCRIPTION:

While in the Service Mode, the indicators on the ECC control panel are used to indicate the status of certain operating modes. The different modes of operation are indicated by the status light being turned "ON" or turned "OFF." These status indicators are specific to the system level you are in (ECM or BCM). A brief summary of each status light is provided below:

1. The Freon Pressure status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the BCM senses that the low refrigerant pressure switch is open. The light should remain "OFF" if the refrigerant system is fully charged and being properly controlled. However, when the ambient temperature drops below approximately -5°F (-21°C), the light will come "ON" due to the pressure temperature relationship of refrigerant R-12.

2. The Recirculation or RECIRC status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the BCM is commanding air recirculation.

3. The A/C solenoid or A/C status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the BCM commands air flow to be out the A/C vents. The light should be "ON" in A/C and bi-level modes.

4. The AIR UP status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the BCM commands air flow to be out the defroster outlet. The light should be "ON" in defrost and A/C modes.

5. The AIR DOWN status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the BCM commands air flow out the floor outlets. The light should be "ON" in heater mode.

6. The A/C Compressor or COMP status indicator is turned "ON" whenever the BCM is requesting the ECM to engage the compressor clutch.
