The accumulator is nitrogen-charged and holds brake fluid under high pressure. It cannot be serviced and must be replaced as an assembly.
1. Depressurize the Powermaster III, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/DEPRESSURIZING POWERMASTER III.
2. Remove the accumulator (28), by turning hex nut on the end of accumulator with a 17 mm socket, Fig. 75.
3. Remove from vehicle by sliding out from underneath Powermaster III, toward left front wheelwell.
4. Remove O-ring (29), from accumulator.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Lightly lubricate, then install a new O-ring on accumulator.
b. Torque accumulator to 23-36 ft. lbs.
c. Bleed Powermaster III as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/DEPRESSURIZING POWERMASTER III.
