Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Typical DIS Crankshaft Sensor:
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from the crankshaft sensor.
3. Remove sensor hold-down bolt.
4. Remove sensor from engine.
5. Inspect the crankshaft sensor o-ring for cracks, wear or leakage. Before installing new sensor, lubricate the new o-ring with engine oil.
INSTALLATION
1. Insert the new sensor into the hole in the engine block.
2. Tighten the sensor hold-down bolt and torque to 88 lb in (10 Nm).
3. Connect crankshaft sensor electrical connection to the wiring harness.
4. Reconnect negative battery cable.
