Fuel Tank Draining Procedure

WARNING: Never drain or store fuel in an open container due to the possibility of fire or explosion.

CAUTION: DO NOT attempt to drain fuel through the filler neck, as damage to the filler neck check ball may occur.

PROCEDURE:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Loosen the fuel filler cap.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Clean the fuel filler vent hose connection and surrounding area before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
5. Loosen the fuel filler vent hose clamp.
6. Wrap a shop towel around the fuel filler vent hose and slowly remove the fuel filler vent hose from the fuel tank vent tube.
7. Position a siphon hose into the fuel tank through the fuel filler opening. Place the other end into an approved container with enough capacity to hold the fuel in the tank. Siphon out the fuel.
8. Reconnect the fuel filler vent hose and clamp.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
