SUBJECT: EXHAUST MOAN/RATTLE
(INSTALL DAMPER AND WASHER)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1991-92 CENTURY WITH 3300 ENGINE (VIN CODE N)


Install damper, P/N 10137383 utilizing exhaust pipe clamp, P/N 15595048.

Note: Clamp is supplied with two nuts, only one will be utilized for this installation.

CORRECTION: (Metallic Rattle/Buzz)

Install wavy washer, P/N 368274 on intermediate pipe hanger shoulder bolt.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.


SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Raise vehicle.

2. Remove intermediate pipe hanger bracket to hanger shoulder bolt/screw.

3. Remove muffler to hanger bolt/screw and lower exhaust system.

4. Install and position damper, P/N 10137383 and clamp, P/N 15595048 as shown in Illustration insuring damper is parallel to ground. Torque damper and clamp nut to 42 N-m (30 ft.lbs.).

5. Elevate exhaust system and install muffler to hanger bolt/screw and torque to 17 N-m. (13 ft.lbs.).

6. Place wavy washer, P/N 368274 onto hanger bracket to hanger shoulder bolt/screw, install and torque to 27 N-m (20 ft.lbs.).

7. Lower vehicle.
