Lock Rod/Inside Handle - Binding

SUBJECT: BINDING INSIDE LOCK ROD OR INSIDE HANDLE TO LOCK ROD (TAPE AFFECTED AREA WITH CLOTH (DUCT) BODY TAPE)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1991 CENTURY (OKLAHOMA BUILT)


Vehicles between the following VIN numbers may be affected:

M6400001
M6447102

CONDITION:

Binding inside lock rod or inside handle to lock rod.

VIEW A:





CAUSE:

Hot melt glue may be stuck to the inside lock rod on the back side of the water deflector as shown, see View A.

VIEW B:





CORRECTION:

Tape over back side of water deflector in affected area with cloth body tape (duct tape) see View B.


PROCEDURE:

1. Remove trim panel
2. Remove water deflector in area shown in View A
3. Remove hot melt from lock rods
4. Tape over hot melt and reinstall water deflector
5. Check operation of system
6. Reinstall trim panel
