Radio/Stereo: Service and Repair

Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system as described in MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING prior to working on or near the steering column. After completion of repairs, rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.

1. Remove lower RH trim plate.
2. Remove four radio retaining screws, then pull radio out of dash and disconnect electrical connectors and antenna lead.
3. Remove radio, Fig. 32.
4. Reverse procedure to install.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove instrument panel lower trim plates and four air vent deflectors by prying gently.
3. Remove bolts and screws that attach the glove box to the instrument panel, Fig. 33.
4. Remove five instrument panel trim plate attaching screws.
5. Remove five radio to instrument panel attaching bolts and nuts, Fig. 33.
6. Pull radio straight back and disconnect electrical connectors and antenna.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
