Seat Belt Telltale and Chime
Seat Belt Chime:
Seat Belt Circuit:
DESCRIPTION:
The BCM provides system voltage to the seat belt circuit, and the seat belt switch provides the single path to ground. The BCM supplies and internally monitors the seat belt circuit at pin 2B9. When the seat belt circuit is open the BCM will detect system voltage, but if the seat belt switch provides a path to ground (seat belt unbuckled), the BCM will detect low voltage. Once the BCM has determined that all of the failure conditions have been met, it will turn "ON" the slow paced chime on the chime module and the "SEAT BELT" indicator light on the IPC. If the seat belt switch opens prior to the 6.0 second time-out, the chime will stop but the indicator will remain lit for the duration of the time-out period.
TEST CONDITIONS:
NONE.
FAILURE CONDITIONS:
1. Engine is running.
2. Drivers seat belt unbuckled.
3. Engine running time less than 6.0 seconds.
ACTION TAKEN:
1. Activate the slow chime on the chime module.
2. Turn "ON" the seat belt indicator light on the IPC.
