Code I004 will set if the Ignition is ON and the sender resistance at the Instrument Cluster was at or below 20 ohms for 5 successive readings in a 2.5 second time period.

TEST EXPLANATIONS

The circled numbers refer to the test procedures in the trouble tree.

1. This step checks to see if the short is in the Coolant Temperature Sender or the rest of the circuit.

2. This step narrows the location of the short between CKT 35 and/or CKT 635 and the Ignition Switch or the Instrument Cluster.

3. This step checks to see if the short is in the Ignition Switch or the rest of the circuit.
