Maintenance Recommendations

Every twelve months the cooling system should be serviced as follows:

1. Wash the radiator cap with clean water. Remove the radiator cap ONLY when the engine is cool.
2. Check the coolant for proper level and freeze protection. Refer to Testing and Inspection / Procedures / Checking Anti Freeze. and Testing and Inspection / Procedures / Testing Coolant Concentration.
3. Pressure test the system and the radiator cap for proper pressure holding capacity. Refer to Testing and Inspection / Procedures / On-Vehicle Pressure Testing and Radiator Cap Testing and Inspection / Procedures /. If a replacement cap is required, the proper cap specified for this vehicle MUST be used.
4. Inspect all hoses and clamps. Replace cracked, swollen or deteriorated hoses.
5. Clean the front of the radiator and air conditioner condenser. Refer to Radiator / Service and Repair.
6. Every two years or 48,000 kilometers (30,000 miles), whichever comes first, the cooling system should be drained and refilled. Refer to Cooling System / Service and Repair / Draining and Refilling.
