Engine Installation

Install or Connect
1. Engine assembly then remove lifting device.
2. Transaxle bolts then remove transaxle support.
3. Bulkhead connector. Refer to Vehicle / Locations / Connectors / Pictorial Views for harness locations. Connector Locations
4. Torque struts and torque to 47 Nm ( 35 ft. lb. )
5. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
6. Exhaust pipe to crossover and torque crossover pipe nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb. ft.)
7. Engine front mount retaining nuts. Refer to Engine Mount / Locations. Locations Refer to Engine Mount / Service and Repair. Engine Mount
8. Transaxle bracket.
9. Torque converter bolts.
10. Starter and torque bolts to 43 Nm ( 32 ft. lb. ) Refer to Starter Motor / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
11. Flywheel cover.
12. A/C compressor to engine then lower vehicle.
13. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) to exhaust.
14. Brake booster vacuum supply.
15. Heater hoses to engine.
16. Power steering pump and torque bolts to 25 Nm ( 18 ft. lb. )
17. A/C mounting bolts to front mounting bracket.
18. Radiator hoses.
19. Serpentine belt.
20. Crossover pipe and torque bolts to 25 Nm ( 18 ft. lb. )

CAUTION: To Reduce the Risk of Fire and Personal Injury: Before connecting fuel line fittings, always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male tube ends. This will ensure proper reconnection and prevent a possible fuel leak. (During normal operation, the O-rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper reconnection if not lubricated.) DO NOT attempt to repair sections of nylon fuel lines. If damaged, replace.

22. Throttle, T.V., and cruise control cables. Refer to Components / Accelerator Controls, Engine Compartment under Throttle Cable/Linkage. Locations
23. Necessary electrical wiring. Refer to Vehicle / Locations / Connectors / Pictorial Views for harness locations. Connector Locations
24. Hood.
25. Battery cables and torque bolts to 15 Nm ( 11 ft.lb. ). Refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction / Service and Repair / Idle Learn Procedure. Service and Repair
26. Air cleaner assembly, including air flow tube to throttle body.
27. Inspect for proper fluid levels for leaks.
