Steering Wheel: Service and Repair



1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove trim plate and retainer.
3. Disconnect horn wire from cam tower.
4. Turn ignition switch to On position.
5. Scribe an alignment mark on steering wheel hub inline with slash mark on steering shaft.
6. Loosen steering wheel nut, positioning it flush with end of shaft.
7. Using a suitable puller, loosen steering wheel. When removing a steering wheel with accessory controls in the hub, use caution to avoid damaging the electronic circuits. Steering wheel puller bolts should be turned in no more than four to six threads to avoid contact with the electronic circuits.
8. Remove steering shaft nut and steering wheel.
9. Reverse procedure to install, aligning scribe mark and Torquing steering shaft nut to 30 ft. lbs.
