9230buick01

Bulletin: 92-9-11

Date: May '92

Ref. No.: 92-207-9

Corp. Ref. No.: 239003

SUBJECT:
INADVERTENT DOOR LOCK AND TRUNK ACTUATION (REPLACE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) RECEIVER)

MODELS AFFECTED:
1992 SKYLARK

CONDITION:

Some 1992 Skylarks may experience unwanted cycling of door lock and/or inadvertent trunk opening.

1992 Skylarks equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) option (AX3) built prior to VIN breakpoint - NC627714.

CAUSE:

The microprocessor in the Remote Keyless Entry receiver may become scrambled by a high voltage spike generated by the mini-wedge door lock motors. If the Remote Keyless Entry receiver becomes scrambled, it may go into a reset process that causes a "Lock" "Unlock" Door and Trunk Cycle.

CORRECTION:

Any of the above vehicles which demonstrates the above condition should have the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) receiver replaced with a new receiver P/N 22584554. Refer to Section 9K of the Skylark Service Manual for proper replacement procedure.
