Attention GM Service Managers and Service Technicians

This is your opportunity to receive an important update for your Tech 1 from the General Motors Service Technology Group (GM STG). GM STG is offering several enhancements to the GM 88-92 Brake Cartridge (TK03030 OR TK03030B) through a Cartridge Exchange Program. You received this cartridge, designated as essential by your divisions, last fall. We strongly encourage your participation in the Cartridge Exchange Program to receive the following enhancements.

Enhancements:

- Corrections to all conditions that necessitated the "Important Notice" that accompanied the original cartridge.

- Capability to diagnose the 1993 Cadillac Allante Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Traction Control System (TCS).

- Enhanced display of trouble codes when diagnosing 1991-92 C/H body vehicles with Teves ABS or TCS systems.

- Improved Delco Moraine ABS VI system tests. The updated cartridge will correctly signal the brake motors immediately after termination of the Battery and Motor Tests. It will also improve the Motor Test sequence.

Cartridge Exchange Program:

Dealerships that received the Tech 1 GM 88-92 Brake Cartridge (TK03030 OR TKO3030B) should exchange it for a revised cartridge (TK03030C). Follow the instructions listed below and return the cartridge to GM-STG. Once the cartridge is received, an updated cartridge, containing all of the enhancements, will be sent back to the dealership free of charge.

Instructions:

Dealers should have received a similar letter, one (1) padded envelope, one (1) GM-STG address label and one (1) dealership return address form. If you did not receive these items, you may send the 88-92 Brake Cartridge (TK03030 OR TK03030B) as described or call the 1-800 phone number listed below.

Complete the following steps to exchange your Tech 1 GM 88-92 Brake Cartridge for an updated cartridge.

Step 1
Fill in the dealership's name, address and dealer code on the Dealership Return Address Form and insert it into the padded envelope. (IMPORTANT: This step must be completed for the updated cartridge to be returned to the dealership.)

Step 2
Locate your Tech 1 GM 88-92 Brake Cartridge (TKO3030 OR TK03030B) and insert it into the padded envelope. IMPORTANT: only the affected cartridge should be returned. Accompanying cables, manual and adapters in the kit are not affected and should not be returned with the cartridge.

Step 3
Peel the backing from the GM-STG address label and adhere it to the front of the padded envelope. The address should read:

Service Technology Group
Attention: Mr. R. Davalos
C/0 Vetronix Corporation
2030 Alameda Padre Serra, Suite 113
Santa Barbara, CA 93103

Step 4
Seal the padded envelope, affix the appropriate postage and mail it to the above address as labeled. (PLEASE NOTE: The sooner the cartridge is received, the sooner the updated cartridge will be returned.)

The updated cartridge will be shipped second day freight after the original GM 88-92 Brake Cartridge has been received by GM-STG. This Cartridge Exchange Program will be in effect through May 15, 1992. Any questions can be directed to the toll free Techline Customer Support Center at 1-800-828-6860.
