SUBJECT:
EXHAUST MOAN/BOOM (INSTALL NEW MUFFLER HANGER ASSEMBLY)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1992-93 ROADMASTER
CONDITION:
Some 1992-93 Roadmasters may exhibit a slight exhaust moan/boom condition, most apparent during light acceleration from 45-55 mph with transmission in fourth gear and torque converter clutch (TCC) applied.
CAUSE:
Exhaust generated pulsations transmitted into vehicle underbody through the exhaust system hangers.
CORRECTION:
Replace existing muffler hanger assembly with new assembly P/N 10228003. Follow applicable Service Manual Procedures and those noted in illustration to insure proper installation and system alignment. Torque hanger/frame bolt to 24 N-m (17 lb.ft.) and hanger clamp to 33 N-m (24 lb.ft.).
