SUBJECT:
ROOF DITCH MOLDING COMES LOOSE FROM VEHICLE (REMOVE, CLEAN AND APPLY ADHESIVE)

MODELS AFFECTED:
1992 ROADMASTER SEDAN

CONDITION:
Ditch molding coming loose from vehicle.

CAUSE:
Inadequate adhesion

CORRECTION:
Perform the following procedure:

1. Open rear door and remove ditch molding retaining screw.

2. Remove molding by slowly pulling upward.

3. Thoroughly clean adhesive (butyl) from molding and ditch area using adhesive remover such as 3M 08984 or equivalent and allow the cleaner to flash off.

IMPORTANT:
The new adhesive does not bond well to butyl. Removing as much butyl as possible will provide the best retention.

4. Apply a 1/4" bead of 3M ULTRAPRO AUTO BODY SEALANT (CLEAR) # 08302 or equivalent inside the ditch.

5. Reinstall the molding on the vehicle by positioning the rearward end under the back glass lace molding, pushing the molding into the ditch and installing the retaining screw.

6. Wipe off any excess adhesive (squeeze-out) from the molding area.

7. Secure the molding on the vehicle using an appropriate tape until the adhesive cures.

8. Repeat for other side of vehicle.
