SUBJECT:
INFORMATION ON SERVICING ECM/PCM'S AND BCM'S WITH MYLAR STRIPS

MODELS AFFECTED:
1993 PARK AVENUE/ULTRAS, RIVIERAS, LESABRES AND SKYLARKS WITH ALL AVAILABLE ENGINES
1993 CENTURYS WITH THE 3300 (VIN "N") ENGINES

In a continuing effort to improve the quality of our products, PCM's/ECM's in all Park Avenue/Ultras, Rivieras, LeSabres and Skylarks with all available engines and Centurys with the 3300 (VIN "N") engines along with BCM's in Rivieras are being built with mylar strips inserted in each connector. This mylar strip reduces the potential for bending connector pins when the PCM/ECM or BCM is connected to the wiring harness. As the harness is connected to the PCM/ECM or BCM, this mylar strip is pushed to the back of the connector. The service units you receive may have the mylar strips pushed back or at the front edge of the connector.

Here are two special guidelines to observe when you notice these mylar strips:

^ Do not attempt to pull out the mylar strips to the front edge of the connector. Due care when servicing these units will prevent bent pins.

^ Do not attempt to remove the mylar strips even if they are damaged. There is enough clearance at the back of the connector for one mylar strip.
