Accessory Delay Module: Description and Operation

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
Retained accessory power allows the radio, power windows, sunroof (if equipped), fuel door and luggage compartment lid release to operate for approximately 10 minutes after turning the ignition switch to OFF.

When the ignition switch is turned OFF, the RAC module (terminal C1/B) senses this and turns on its RAP relay control output (terminal C1/H). This applies battery voltage. made available from the RAC module (terminal C1/A) to the coil of RAP relay no.1, energizing the coil. With RAP relay no. 1 energized, battery voltage from RH underhood fuse block fuse 2 is applied directly through the closed RAP relay no. 1 contacts to power the radio. The radio operates for approximately 10 minutes or until any door is opened. If any door Is opened, RAC module door open input (terminal C1/C) is grounded, thereby turning off the output at terminal C1/H. This de-energizes RAP relay no. 1, and removes power from the radio. The 10-minute time interval Is reset by turning the ignition switch to RUN, then back to OFF.

RAP relay no. 2 operation is similar to RAP relay no. 1 operation with the exception of RAP relay no. 2 also being energized any time the ignition switch Is in RUN, BULB TEST or START. The RAC module's relay no.2 control (terminal C1/F) supplies battery voltage to energize RAP relay no.2. This relay powers the power windows, sunroof (if equipped), fuel door and luggage compartment lid release for approximately 10 minutes after turning ignition switch to OFF, or until any door is opened.
