Automatic Day-Night Mirror Description

CIRCUIT OPERATION:
The electrochromic mirror uses two photocell sensors to determine light conditions in front and rear of the vehicle. At night, as headlamp glare increases from behind, the headlamp sensor signals the mirror to gradually darken to absorb the glare. In daytime, the mirror is in a clear state. With ignition switch in RUN, battery voltage is applied to mirror switch terminal 1. The mirror switch controls the mirror's sensitivity. When the switch is set to MAX, the mirror is at a high sensitivity level, causing the mirror to darken at lower glare levels. Battery voltage is applied to terminal 3 with the gear selector lever in reverse. The mirror gradually changes to allow better vision when backing up the vehicle.

With option DD0 (automatic outside mirror), the interior mirror also controls the LH outside mirror reflectivity. The LH outside mirror darkens or clears along with the inside rear view mirror.
