EBCM or EBTCM Modules

The EBCM/EBTCM is a computer, mounted in the passenger compartment, which monitors the speed of each wheel and the pressure modulator valve (PMV) assembly's electrical status. The EBCM/EBTCM's primary functions are to detect wheel locking/slipping (with traction control) tendencies. To control the brake system while In the antilock/traction mode, and to monitor the system for proper electrical operation. The EBCM/EBTCM also controls displaying diagnostic trouble codes while In diagnostic mode.

The EBCM/EBTCM continuously checks each wheel speed to determine when any wheel is beginning to lock or slip (with TCS). When a wheel locking/slipping tendency is detected the EBCM/EBTCM commands appropriate valve positions to modulate brake fluid pressure in the corresponding hydraulic circuits. This prevents wheel lockup/slip and provides optimum braking/traction. The EBCM/EBTCM continues to control pressure in the individual hydraulic circuits until a locking/slipping tendency is no longer present.

The EBCM/EBTCM electrically monitors the system for proper operations. When the EBCM/EBTCM detects an error, it disables the antilock and/or traction system and turns on the ANTILOCK "indicator" and/or the TRACTION OFF "indicator".
