DTC 67

Cruise Switches Circuit Diagram:

Code 67 Diagnostic Chart:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
The cruise control switch assembly gets battery power from through circuit 639 when the ignition is turned "ON". When the cruise control is engaged (cruise "ON"/"OFF" switched to "ON"), power is directed to the following:
^ "SET"/"COAST" switch
^ "RESUME"/"ACCEL" switch
^ Cruise "ON" input terminal of the PCM (terminal GD2)
^ Brake switch

Code 67 will set under any one of the following conditions:

^ CKT 397 is open between cruise engage switch and the PCM.
^ CKT 84 is closed for an extended amount of time.
^ CKT 87 is closed for an extended amount of time.
^ CKT 86 is open to the PCM after the vehicle makes 5 stops from 35 mph down to 0 mph.
^ Any of the above CKT's are shorted to voltage during key "OFF".

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
1. A short to ground in circuits 397, 84, 86 or 87 will cause a failure of the cruise engagement switch, but will not blow the 15A fuse for circuit 639.
2. An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, worn through wire insulation, or a wire broken inside the insulation. Check for:
^ Poor connection or damaged harness. Inspect harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, bad terminals, poor terminal to wire connections, and damaged harness.
