DTC 69
Cooling Fan Control Circuit Diagram:
Code 69 Diagnostic Chart:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
The A/C head pressure switch closes to ground at approximately 210 psi (1440 kPa). When the head pressure switch completes circuit 603 to ground, the fans should run at high speeds. If a code 69 is set, the engine cooling fans will run on high speed anytime A/C is requested.
Code 69 will set if all of the following conditions exist at the same time:
^ CKT 603 is grounded during the first 5 seconds of engine run time.
^ Coolant temperature is less than 31°C (88°F).
^ Ambient air temperature is less than 28°C (82°F).
^ RPM is less than 1800.
^ No code 14, 15, 23 or 25.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS:
An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, worn through wire insulation, or a wire broken inside the insulation.
Check For:
^ Poor Connection or Damaged Harness. Inspect for PCM pins and harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal to wire connection, and damaged harness.
^ Mis-routed Harness. Inspect wiring harness to insure that it is not close to high voltage wires, such as spark plug wires.
^ Damaged Harness. Inspect harness for damage. If harness appears to be OK, Scan while moving related connectors and wiring harness connectors. A change in display will help locate the intermittent problem location.
