CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:




Cruise control operation is one of the functions which is PCM controlled. The PCM receives input signals from the C/C engagement switches, the brake switch, the vehicle speed sensor, the TPS and the servo position sensor. The PCM processes these inputs and sends output signals to the servo to open or close its vent and vacuum solenoid valves to control vehicle speed.


DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
An intermittent may be caused by poor connections, rubbed through wire insulation or a wire broken inside the insulation.

Check for:
^ Poor connection or damaged harness. Inspect for damaged or backed out terminals.
^ If one or more of the following trouble codes are stored, cruise control may be disabled. Repair any codes before diagnosing the cruise control system.

16* System voltage too high or too low
21* TPS signal voltage high
22* TPS signal voltage low
24* VSS circuit
36 Transaxle shift problem
38 TCC brake switch problem
61 Cruise vent solenoid circuit problem
62 Cruise vacuum solenoid circuit problem
65 Cruise SPS circuit problem
67 Cruise switch problem
68 Cruise system problem

* "Malfunction Indicator Light" (MIL) is turned "ON" when this code is detected.
