Service Procedure

Inspection

1. Raise hood.

2. Remove left hand sound insulator to expose lower steering column area.





3. Inspect BTSI Solenoid date code stamped on bottom of solenoid (see illustration).

^ If date code is 2286, 2287, 2288, 2289, 2290, 2293 proceed to replacement, step 4.

^ If date code is other than above, proceed to step 5.

Replacement

4. Follow steps in Service Manual for "Solenoid Replacement with Steering Column Installed in Vehicle" pages 3F5A-20 to 22. Be sure to disable and enable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system.

5. Reinstall left hand sound insulator.

6. Install Campaign Identification Label and close hood.
