DTC 36
Trouble Code Chart 36:
Camshaft And Crankshaft Sensor Wiring:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The 24X sensor is used to improve idle spark control at engine speed up to approximately 2000 RPM.
DTC 36 will set if:
^ Engine running.
^ The ECM detects 2 fuel control reference pulses and fewer than 3 spark reference pulses.
^ DTC 36 diagnostic is executed once per ignition cycle.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. The 24X signal RPM should be the same as engine speed up to approximately 2000 RPM at which time it stops. This test determines if the ECM is putting out a 24X signal.
2. If CKT 643 is shorted to voltage, this could also lead to a faulty sensor.
3. If CKT 632 is shorted to voltage, this will set both cam and 24X signal errors.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS:
An intermittent 24X signal. DTC can be cause by poor connections. Visually check all connections.
