Fig. 7 Removing Piston Check Valve:
Fig. 8 Rotating Piston In Bore:
1. Remove caliper as described previously and remove shoe and lining.
2. Remove and discard the two caliper mounting sleeves and the four bushings. Using silicone lubricant, install new bushings and seals. Sleeves are installed in inner bushings.
3. Remove and discard piston two-way check valve and install a new one, Fig. 7. If leakage is noted from end of piston after check valve is removed caliper must be overhauled.
4. Position new inboard shoe assembly on piston. The D-shaped tab must fit into indentation in piston. If piston requires rotation, use spanner wrench to rotate piston, Fig. 8. Install new spring retainers as applicable.
5. Install new outboard shoe assembly onto caliper. Install caliper and torque mounting bolts to 30 ft. lbs.
6. Position channel lock pliers over brake shoe ears, if equipped, and bottom edge of caliper. While holding moderate force on brake pedal, clinch outboard shoe.
