Fog/Driving Lamp: Description and Operation
FOG LIGHTS (2 DOOR)With the Headlight Switch in "PARK" or "HEAD" and the Fog Light Switch "ON," battery voltage is supplied to the Fog Lamp Relay coil. The coil is grounded through the HI beam filaments. The relay energizes and applies voltage to the Fog Lamps. The Fog Lamps glow. Since the coil of the Fog Lamp Relay is grounded through the HI Beam filaments, the relay will de-energized any time the HI Beams are on because voltage is applied to both sides of the relay coil.
FOG LIGHTS (4 DOOR)
With the Headlights Switch in "PARK" or "HEAD" and the Fog Light Switch "OFF," a reduced voltage is applied to the Fog Lamps through the resistance wire and the Fog Lamp Relay. The Fog Lamps glow at reduced brilliance. With the Headlight Switch in "PARK" or "HEAD" and the Fog Light Switch "ON," battery voltage is applied to the Fog Lamp Relay coil. The coil is grounded through the HI Beam filaments. The relay energizes, bypassing the resistance wire, and applies battery voltage directly to the Fog Lamps. The Fog Lamps glow at full brilliance. Since the coil of the Fog Lamp Relay is grounded through the HI Beam filaments, the relay will deenergize any time the HI Beams are on because battery voltage is applied to both sides of the relay coil. With the relay de-energized, the Fog Lamps will again glow at reduced brilliance.
