REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Raise vehicle.
3. Two nuts from electronic air control bypass valve to air pump assembly.
4. Lower vehicle.
5. Bottom bolt (1) from air pump assembly to belt tensioner. Refer to Figure.
6. Top bolt (1) from air pump assembly to generator bracket. Refer to Figure.
7. Belt.
8. Air pump assembly.
9. Three bolts from air pump assembly pulley.
10. Spacer and pulley.
11. Fan filter from air pump assembly (if required, insert needle nose pliers and pull fan from hub).

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. New fan filter to air pump assembly hub. Do not drive fan filter on with a hammer. A slight amount of interference with the housing bore is normal.
2. Pulley and spacer against centrifugal fan filter.
3. Three air pump pulley bolts. Refer to figure. Torque three air pump pulley bolts to 26 Nm (20 lb ft).
4. Air pump assembly and belt.
5. Raise vehicle.
6. New gasket, air pump assembly to electric air control bypass valve.
7. Two nut electric air control bypass valve to air pump assembly. Torque electric air control bypass valve to air pump assembly nuts to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).
8. Lower vehicle.
9. Refer to drive belt replacement for belt tension specifications and torque specifications for air pump assembly bolts.
10. Negative battery cable.

NOTE: After a new fan filter has been installed, it may squeal upon initial operation or until O.D. sealing lip has worn in. This may require a short period of pump operation at various engine speeds.

11. Check secondary air injection system for proper operation. Refer to CHART C-6.
