New Design Pump

Body And Rotor

As of start of production 1994, all 4T60-E models were updated with a redesigned tapered pump rotor and a shorter crescent slot within the pump body. These changes are designed to reduce pump noise and cavitation concerns. In addition, L and N vehicles (Corsica, Beretta Grand Am, Skylark and Achieva) also incorporated split spacing (340,400, and 460) of the rotor vanes, similar to 4L60/60-E pump designs.

The newly designed body requires a tapered rotor to be used. Previous pump bodies may be serviced with a tapered or non-tapered rotor while the new design pump must be serviced with a tapered design unit. The new design pump assembly may be used on previous year 4T60-E units.
