MODELS AFFECTED:
1992-93 REGAL

This bulletin is being revised to add Important Statement for Item 2 "Fitting from Radiator" and adding step number 5 in TSB # 9361, dated Sept., 1992.

The following procedure should be added to the Regal Service Manual, Section 6B, and used whenever disconnecting or connecting the engine oil cooler pipe at the quick connect fitting, or when removing or installing the fitting itself.

ENGINE OIL COOLER

Quick Connect Fitting

Remove or Disconnect:

1. Pipe, by removing wire retaining clip as follows:

A. Hold one side of clip with thumb tight against fitting.

B. Using a 90 degree bent tip tool (or other suitable tool); pull other side of clip away and down from fitting as shown in Figure 1.

C. Pull out pipe from quick connect fitting as shown in Figure 2.

2. Fitting from radiator.

Install or Connect:

1. Lubricate inner and outer O-ring seals in fitting with engine oil before installation.

2. Fitting to radiator.

Tighten:

^ Fitting to 27 N-m (20 lb.ft.).

IMPORTANT:
DO NOT reuse wire retaining clips. You must replace the clip after removal.

NOTICE:
DO NOT install the new clip by attempting to push both sides of clip on at the same time. Refer to Figure 3. The resulting stress may weaken its ability to hold the pipe securely, resulting in loss of engine oil and subsequent damage to the engine.

3. Insert new wire retaining clip as follows:

A. Insert one side of clip into fitting as shown in Figure 4.

B. Rotate clip around fitting as shown in Figure 5.

C. Make sure that the other side of the clip snaps into place as shown in Figure 6.

4. Insert cooler pipe into fitting by pushing until click is heard, then pull back on pipe to insure the pipe is locked.

5. Using a flashlight, look inside fitting and verify all three indents of wire retaining clip can be seen. Refer to Figure 7. This MUST be done to insure pipe is correctly held in fitting.
