Trunk / Liftgate: Description and Operation

CIRCUIT OPERATION

Voltage is applied at all times through Fuse 17 to the Trunk Lid Pull Down Unit. When the Trunk Lid is opened the Trunk Lid Ajar Switch moves to the LID AJAR position and the Trunk Lid Position Switch moves to the UP position. The Striker Switches are in position 1. Battery voltage is applied through switch B to the Striker Motor. The Striker Motor is grounded through switch C and the Trunk Lid Ajar Switch to ground G400. The Striker Motor drives the lock striker up to prepare for closing. When the lock striker is fully up, the Striker Switches move to position 2. Battery voltage is applied to the Striker Motor in the opposite direction through switch B. When the Trunk Lid is closed the Striker Motor is grounded through switch A and the Trunk Lid Position Switch. The Striker Motor drives the lock striker down and the Trunk Lid closes. The Striker Switches move to position 1 and the trunk lid ajar switch moves to the LID CLOSED position. This removes ground from the Striker Motor and stops the Striker Motor from running.
