Lighting and Horns: Description and Operation
The Courtesy Lights are controlled by the Courtesy Lights Relay. The Relay is activated by the Body Computer Module (BCM). Voltage is supplied to the coil of the Courtesy Lights Relay through Body Fuse 2, which is hot at all times. The BCM provides a ground for the coil of the Courtesy Lights Relay when one of the following occurs:1. any Door Jamb Switch is closed,
2. the Courtesy Lights Switch is closed, or
3. the UNLOCK or Dome Light button is pressed on the Keyless Entry Transmitter.
With the Courtesy Light Relay energized, its contacts close and provide a ground path for the Courtesy Lights, which turns the lights on.
When the Keyless Entry Module grounds the Illuminated Entry/Wake up output, the Courtesy Lights will come on and will stay on for 60 seconds if a door is not opened. If a door is opened before 60 seconds has elapsed, and is left open, the Courtesy Lights will stay on for about 10 minutes and then turn off. If the car is entered and the door is closed before the IC minute time-out, the Courtesy Lights will stay or for 60 seconds or until the Ignition Switch is turned to the RUN position, whichever occurs first.
