A/C Drain Hose - Drips Into Passenger Area
Bulletin: 93-10-1Date: Oct. '92
Ref.No.: 93-14-10
Corp.Ref.No.: 231207
SUBJECT:
A/C EVAPORATOR CASE DRAIN DRIPS INTO PASSENGER SIDE FRONT COMPARTMENT (INSTALL NEW RUBBER DRAIN TUBE)
MODELS AFFECTED:
ALL 1992 ROADMASTER SEDANS
ALL 1993 ROADMASTER SEDANS BUILT PRIOR TO VIN PR403264
CONDITION:
Condensate water from the evaporator drain tube can leak into the passenger compartment (passenger side front floor area).
CAUSE:
Under conditions of extreme humidity, air flow through the engine compartment can allow a small amount of condensate water to work past the seal of the evaporator drain tube. The water then slowly drips or seeps into the passenger side front compartment, generally wetting the carpet on the floor area near the transmission hump.
If there is a large volume of water, or any leakage noticed in the back seat, use normal diagnostic procedures to determine cause of the leak.
CORRECTION:
Inspect the evaporator drain tube for blockage, clear as required. Install the 90 degree rubber drain tube over the existing tube, pointed downward, as illustrated. This will allow the water to drain down away from the evaporator drain opening.
