Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

The vehicle is initially programmed at the factory to lock all doors when the gear selector is shifted out of park, and to unlock all doors when the gear selector is shifted back into park. However, this function can be overridden by reprogramming the RAC module as follows:

^ Close all doors and turn ignition switch to RUN. Depress brake pedal. Press and hold the power door lock switch in the LOCK position and cycle the gear selector out of and back into park, release lock switch. All doors will now lock when the gear selector is shifted out of park and remain locked until unlocked manually or the power door lock switch is operated.

The initial lock/unlock feature can be reprogrammed as follows:

^ Close all doors and turn ignition switch to RUN. Depress brake pedal. Press and hold the power door lock switch in the UNLOCK position and cycle the gear selector out of and back into park, release lock switch.
