System Initialization

At pre-programmed points in time, at key-on and when 20 km/h (12 mph) is first reached at each ignition cycle, the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM) performs a series of self-tests, which check all systems, electronic and hydraulic, for any problems. When a problem exists, the EBCM/EBTCM sets a diagnostic trouble code and/or illuminates an indicator lamp.
