Park/Neutral (P/N) Switch

Trans Range Switch Circuit:






Transaxle Mounted Neutral Start Switch (TMNSS):

Purpose
The PARK/NEUTRAL switch indicates to the computer when the transmission is in PARK or NEUTRAL.

Operation
This information is used by the computer for Timing, Idle Air Control (IAC), Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) and canister purge operation. DO NOT drive the vehicle with the PARK/NEUTRAL switch disconnected, since idle quality may be affected.

Location
The TMNSS and Trans Range combination switch is mounted to the transaxle

Transmission Range Switch:

Purpose
The transmission range switch provides the PCM with information regarding gear selector position or PRNDL.

Operation
The PRNDL input consists of 4 discrete circuits to pull 4 PCM voltages low in various combinations to indicate each gear range. The voltage level of each of the circuits is represented as low = grounded circuit and high = open circuit.

Location
The TMNSS and Trans Range combination switch is mounted to the transaxle.
