Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System

The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) symbol below is used on schematics to alert the technician of the following important caution.

Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) Symbol:

1. With ignition Switch at OFF. remove I/P Fuse Block Air Bag Fuse 7.
2. Disconnect yellow two-way SIR harness connector (C2O5) at base of steering column.
3. Proceed with diagnosis and repair of system.
4. With ignition Switch at OFF, reconnect yellow two-way SIR harness connector (C205) at base of steering column.
5. Reinstall I/P Fuse Block Air Bag Fuse 7.
6. Turn Ignition Switch to RUN and verify that Inflatable Restraint Indicator flashes 7 to 9 times, then turns OFF. If indicator does not respond as stated, refer to Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) for diagnosis. Air Bag Systems
