Fig. 82 Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement.:

NOTE: Left and right front wheel speed sensors are not interchangeable.

1. Disconnect wheel speed sensor electrical connector, then remove hub and bearing assembly.
2. Clean all dirt and debris from sensor housing and sensor interface surfaces, then pry sensor slinger gently away from hub assembly, Fig. 82.
3. Pry sensor gently away from hub assembly. While sensor is removed, do not allow debris to enter bearing housing and do not add any lubricant. It is not necessary to clean grease from toothed sensor ring.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply Loctite 620, or equivalent, to groove in bearing hub outer diameter.
b. When installing sensor in hub, position hub and bearing assembly on tool No. J 38764-4, or equivalent, then use a suitable press with tool No. J 38764-1, or equivalent, to install sensor.
