Troubleshooting Hints - Interior Lights Dimming

1. Make sure Park Lamps turn "ON" and "OFF" normally before proceeding with diagnostic. Refer to Exterior Lamps for Park Lamp diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
2. If none of the Instrument Panel Lamps illuminate, check INST LPS Fuse.
3. If Instrument Panel Lamps stay "ON" all the time, but Park Lamps operate normally, repair short to B+ in CKT 8.
4. If one lamp does not operate, check the CKT 8 and CKT 150 wires to suspect lamp for opens, bent terminals, etc. If OK, replace bulb (see schematic).
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected .These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems (see Troubleshooting Procedures). Diagnostic Aids
^ Refer to System Diagnosis.
