Mirrors: Description and Operation

Each outside Mirror has two reversible motors. One adjusts the mirror view up and down and the other adjusts the mirror view right and left. The driver operates the Outside Mirror Switch, a joystick type switch, that controls the polarity of the voltage to the motors. This switch also directs the voltage to either the RH or LH Outside Mirror.

With the Mirror Select Switch in left, the LH Door Mirror Switch controls the left mirror. When the Up/Down Switch is moved "UP," battery voltage from CKT 40 is applied to CKT 88 and the Up/Down Motor in the LH Outside Mirror. The LH Outside Mirror Up/Down Switch supplies a path to ground through CKT 82, the "UP" contacts of the Up/Down Switch and CKT 150. The LH Mirror Up/Down Motor runs to turn the mirror up.

If the Mirror Control Switch is pushed to the DOWN" position, the same motor receives voltage through CKT 82 and CKT 88 is grounded. The motor runs in the opposite direction.

The LH Left/Right Motor operates in a similar manner. When the Left/Right Switch is moved "RIGHT," battery voltage from CKT 40 is applied to CKT 81 and the Left/Right Motor in the LH Outside Mirror. The LH Outside Mirror Left/Right Switch supplies a path to ground through CKT 82, the "RIGHT" contacts of the Left/Right Switch and CKT 130. The LH Mirror Left/Right Motor runs to turn the mirror right.

If the Mirror Control Switch is pushed to the "LEFT" position, the same motor receives voltage through CKT 82 and CKT 81 is grounded. The motor runs in the opposite direction.

The RH Outside Mirror works in a similar way as the LH Outside Mirror when the Mirror Select Switch is moved to the "RH" position and the joystick is operated.
