1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering column filler panel as follows:
a. Remove Data Link Connector (DLC) attaching screws, then lower Data Link Connector (DLC).
b. Remove filler panel attaching screws, then lap vent hose.
c. Remove filler panel by swinging down and pulling out.
3. Remove left trim plate as follows:
a. Remove steering column opening filler attaching screws, then opening filler.
b. Remove ashtray, then trim plate attaching screws, Fig. 7.
c. Pull trim panel straight forward to release two retaining clips in center of panel, then remove panel.
4. Disconnect speedometer cable from transmission. If two piece cable is used, disconnect in engine compartment to ensure there is cable slack.
5. Remove shift indicator clip from steering column shift bowl, then cluster attaching screws, Fig. 8.
6. Pull cluster assembly out far enough to reach behind and disconnect speedometer cable.
7. Remove cluster.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
