This bulletin is being revised to update the Parts Information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 53-50-16A (Section 5 - Brakes).
Effective May 16, 1997 the following Delphi Chassis ABS 5 service parts will be released from restriction:

At this time, dealerships may begin to order and stock the released service parts through normal GMSPO channels.
Effective September 3, 1996 the following Delphi Chassis ABS 5 service parts were released from restriction:

The 1997 Delphi Chassis diagnostic assistance and parts return program will be in effect for the following ABS 5 and CVRTD parts:

The following procedure should be followed when the diagnostics in Sections 5E or 3G of the 1997 Service Manual leads to the replacement of an ABS or CVRTD part listed above:
1. Contact Delphi Chassis Technical Assistance at 1-800-523-0203 to verify diagnosis. The following information must be provided:
^ Dealer Code
^ VIN
^ Mileage
^ Repair Order Number
^ Results of Diagnosis
2. Upon verification of diagnosis, the necessary parts will be ordered by Delphi Chassis.
3. Within 24 hours, the parts will be shipped overnight to the dealer. The overnight shipping premiums will be waived.
Important:
If any of the restricted parts are ordered from GMSPO directly, the order will be rejected with a message to contact Delphi Chassis Technical Assistance.
4. Part returns.
A. Replacement parts will be packaged in heavy gauge returnable boxes. The box will include a self-adhering pre-paid shipping label and a short instruction sheet. Return shipping charges will be paid by Delphi Chassis via the pre-paid shipping label. Return the defective parts within three days using the pre-paid label.
B. If the replacement part does not have a self-adhering return label in the box, Delphi Chassis Technical Assistance will notify the dealer and fax the return part instructions to the dealer when the order is placed.
5. A copy of the repair order and the TAS case number must be included with all returned parts.
