STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

Tool Required:
J 1859-A Steering Wheel Puller
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Disable SIR system. Refer to "Disabling the SIR System".
2. Inflator module (2) screws and electrical connection.
3. Inflator module and horn connection.
4. Nut.
5. Steering wheel using J 1859-03 or BT-61-9.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Align mark on steering wheel with mark on shaft, then install steering wheel.
2. Steering wheel nut.
3. Tighten steering wheel nut to 41 Nm (30 lb ft).
4. Inflator module and horn lead.
5. Tighten inflator module to steering wheel screws to 10 Nm (90 lb in).
- Staying well away from the inflator modules, turn ignition switch to "RUN" and verify that the "AIR BAG" indicator flashes seven times and then turns "OFF". If it does not operate as described, perform the "SIR Diagnostic System Check" in this Section.
6. Enable SIR system. Refer to "Enabling the SIR System".
