Keyless Entry System Operation
The Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) system allows the driver to operate the vehicle door locks, illuminated entry lamps, remote alarm, and rear compartment lid release from outside the vehicle using the RKE transmitter. The transmitter operates in the UHF band; it sends digitally coded signals to the
Remote Control Door Lock Receiver
(RCDLR). The RCDLR detects and decodes the signals and issues signals to the Body Control Module
(BCM) for all door and lighting functions. The RCDLR sends a direct signal to the rear compartment lid release relay. The RKE transmitter sends a direct signal to the BCM for the remote alarm feature. These systems can also be operated in the usual manner; for instance, the door locks will respond to the door lock switches.
