Self-Diagnostics

The Electronic Brake Control Module/Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBCM/EBTCM) contains sophisticated on-board diagnostics that, when accessed with a Scan Tool, is designed to identify the source of any system malfunction as specifically as possible, including whether or not the malfunction is intermittent.

For vehicles with ABS/ETC, there are 59 diagnostic trouble codes to assist with diagnosis. (Antilock Brake System/Enhanced Traction Control).



When using the Scan Tool the last diagnostic trouble code is specifically identified, and specific ABS or ETS or TCS data is stored at the time of this malfunction. Also, in addition to the last Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) set, there is information about the first five DTCs set. Using the Scan Tool, each input and output can be monitored, thus enabling malfunction confirmation and repair verification. Manual control of components and automated functional tests are also available when using the Scan Tool. Details of many of these functions are contained in the following sections.
