Troubleshooting Hints - Interior Lights Dimming
1. Make sure all park lamps turn on and off normally before proceeding with diagnostic. Refer to Exterior Lights for park lamp diagnosis. Testing and Inspection2. Check TAIL LAMPS and PANEL DIMMING Fuses. If TAIL LAMPS Fuse is open, repair a short to ground in circuit 301. If PANEL DIMMING Fuse is open, repair a short to ground in circuit 32.
3. If none of the interior lamps illuminate, check the LP PARK Fuse. If fuse is open, repair a short to ground circuit 1340.
4. Check that G200, G201, G203 and G301 are clean and tight.
5. If interior lamps stay on all the time, but the park lamps operate normally, repair short to B+ in circuit 8.
6. If one interior lamp does not operate, check circuit 8 and circuit 1450 to the suspect interior lamp for an open, bent terminals, etc. If OK, replace the interior lamp.
^ Check for a burned out or broken bulb.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system malfunction but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check with a system disconnected. These circuits may be intermittent or resistive when loaded, and if possible, should be checked by monitoring for a voltage drop with the system operational (under load).
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems. Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures. Diagnostic Aids
^ Refer to System Diagnosis.
