B1656 SBM EEPROM Write Error

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The test for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) B1656 runs for each write or block of writes to the EEPROM. The Body Control Module (SBM) writes to an EEPROM cell and then reads the data back.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The data read by the SBM does not match the data written to EEPROM after two consecutive attempts.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
The data read by the SBM matches the data written to the EEPROM.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If DTC B1656 is set, clear DTCs and cycle the ignition. If DTC B1656 is still current, replace SBM.
