CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) B1657 indicates the Option Bit portion of the IPC EEPROM, which stores manufacturing information has an unrecoverable error.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DCT SETS (BY IPC)
None

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The IPC displays may become inoperative when this DCT is set. An IPC B 1657 is unrecoverable, the IPC will have to be replaced. Contact an authorized Delco service center. The failed IPC may be used by the service center to obtain the calibration data for the replacement IPC.
