CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Memory Seat Module (MSM) receives inputs from the LH front seat switch. When a switch is operated, it becomes grounded. The MSM recognizes the input and moves the seat in the appropriate direction. When any seat positioning switch input continues to be active for 30 seconds after motion in the requested direction has ceased. The switch will be considered shorted. If a seat position sensor Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) is currently set, and a switch in the direction associated with the suspect sensor has been active for 30 seconds, the switch will be considered shorted.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTCS
Every 300 milliseconds the MSM checks the seat switches. If any of the switch inputs remain active for an excessive time, the appropriate DTC will be set.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ Motor outputs driving in response to the failed switch will be de-activated.
^ Non-failing switch inputs will continue to remain valid.
^ All Memory Recall commands and Class 2 Driver Identifier messages will be ignored.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
This DTC will be automatically cleared when the module does not detect a failure of the switch.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. Checks if the MSM is receiving battery at the appropriate MSM input. Battery voltage at the MSM input indicates that the switch is active. An inactive switch will appear to be grounded at the MSM input.
