U1016 Loss of PCM Data - IPC
DTC IPC U1016 Loss Of PCM Data:
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC:
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) IPC U1016 will set if the ignition is "ON" and the IPC is not able to exchange data with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DCT SETS (BY IPC):
The IPC will turn "ON" the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON Telltale. The IPC will leave the gear labels "on" but turn "off" the gear position indicator. The Coolant temperature gauge will remain at its present position based upon the last piece of temperature data received from the PCM. In addition, on DIC equipped vehicles the fuel data displays will read "-" and the Oil Pressure, Oil Life Index and Coolant Temp gauge data displays will read "????".
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS:
If only DTC IPC U1016 IS STORED AS "History", check PCM power, ground and serial data cavities for intermittent open circuits. If there are multiple communication DTCs current (i.e. DTC IPC U1016, IPC U1040, IPC U1064 and IPC U 1088) perform a Class 2 Data Link Connector system check for open circuits, refer to Data Link Connector.
